On Sept. 15, it was reported that an Iowa woman was taken into custody after a 10-year-old boy allegedly attempted to sell marijuana to a classmate. The classmate reportedly informed the school’s administration about the attempt, causing the authorities to be called to the school at about 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 11.
After the authorities spoke to the boy, they obtained a search warrant for a home that was located in the 100 block of West Valley Street in Red Oak. After searching the home, a 34-year-old woman was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance. Authorities said that the woman was cooperative during the search of the residence. She was taken to a nearby jail where she was being held on a $1000 cash bond. The 10-year-old boy was also taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.
When juveniles are accused of drug possession or other drug charges, any legal punishments they may face could have a serious impact on their future. In some cases, juveniles could even be tried as adults depending on the specific circumstances surrounding the case. If they are convicted, they could potentially face time in a detention center.
